Seasonal Pillow Covers? Yaaaas Please
On a recent shopping trek through the home decor isles of Target, I found a lovely little wall hanging by OpalHouse. Though wall hangings to me are a bit juvenile(think college dorm) I was very much drawn the print of this particular textile and its use of a familiar and beloved color palate. My dinning room/living room combo is done in grays, neutrals, blush pink, and deep yellow. So when I saw this wall hanging I was inspired to use it as a table cloth/runner for my dinning room table.
Also, I may just reupholster my tufted coffee table in it...to be cont'd.
A few moments after I found the wall hanging, I stumbled upon the clearance section. I found some amazing flour sac cloth towels by Hearth & Hand by Magnolia for $2.07. The towels measure 30in x 30 in and come in a multitude of colors and prints. I decided to make some no sew pillow covers to carry our seating area from Summer into Fall. All you need for this 10 min project is a small pillow/or pillow insert approximately 16inx16in or less, a hot glue gun, and the towel. You can also use any piece of 30in x30in fabric you like.
1. Lay the towel down on an angle so that the corners are in a compass formation. (N,S,W, E)
2. Place the pillow in the center.
3. Grab your hot glue and place a hashtag of hot glue right in the center of the pillow.
4. Quickly fold up one corner and press down (wear an oven mitt not to burn your hand) Repeat but now with top corner.
5. Place a line of hot glue following the edges and fold the corner on top, starting with one side first and then the next. (Almost done now)
6. Run beads of glue down the corners and any out of place seams to create a smooth seamless look.
7. Let cool and steam the wrinkles out of the finished product.

It is that simple! You can do this seasonally instead of constantly purchasing new pillow or expensive covers. It is super fun, easy, and even the kids can help (carefully).
The flour sac cloth is very rustic and make a great textural addition to old leather, linen, velvet, etc.
I really hope you try this fun DIY and spruce up your rooms!
Till next post my friends.
